What is Liga MX

Liga MX is Mexico's top football division, made up of 18 clubs competing across the 2026/27 season. The league runs on Mexican football's familiar short-season format, with a regular season feeding into a play-off stage known as the Liguilla, which ultimately decides the champion rather than final league position alone.

The division includes some of the country's most historic and best-supported clubs, among them América, Cruz Azul and Monterrey, alongside Atlas, Guadalajara, Tigres UANL, Pumas UNAM, Toluca, León, Pachuca, Santos Laguna, Necaxa, Querétaro, Puebla, Tijuana, FC Juarez, Atlético de San Luis and Atlante.
