What the Scottish Premiership is

The Scottish Premiership is the top division of Scottish football, made up of 12 clubs for the 2026/27 season. It is best known outside Scotland for the Old Firm rivalry between Celtic and Rangers, one of the fiercest derbies anywhere in European football, but the division also features long-established clubs such as Aberdeen, Hibernian and Heart of Midlothian with their own strong followings.
